Candy Crush Saga Gets a Sodalicious Sequel

Candy Crush Saga, the casual social game surrounded by so much love and hate, and one of the highest grossing games on Apple’s App Store, has just got a sequel – the new game launched on Tuesday by King.com, titled Candy Crush Soda Saga. The game is available through Apple’s App Store and the Google Play Store starting Tuesday, Mashable writes.

Candy Crush Saga is a real success story for social game developer King. Launched in April 2012 on Facebook and in November of the same year on the most popular mobile operating systems, it has surpassed Farmville as the most popular Facebook game in less than a year. In 2013 it was the most downloaded iPhone app, and by the end of the year it was installed on 500 million iOS and Android devices all over the world. In the first six months of 2014, Candy Crush players have spent $790.1 million within the game (the game itself is free). Its sequel, Candy Crush Soda Saga, was said to be released on all major mobile operating systems this December, but apparently King has decided to give it a rush and bring us the new game early.

Candy Crush Soda Saga is said to be a brand new game from the makers of the original Candy Crush, although it is very similar to its predecessor. It brings a series of new features and changes to the game dynamics, introducing new candies, new combinations and several challenging new game modes. The initial release comes with over 135 levels (that has already been increased to 150 with the first update), new environments and characters, and features like leaderboards for players who connect the game to their Facebook accounts and the possibility to synchronize the players’ progress across their mobile phone and tablet computer . The new game is free to play, just like its predecessor, but some of the extra features – like extra moves and lives – need to be purchased for real money.
