Samsung Galaxy S6 Rumors: Side-Sloping Display and Metal Chassis?

The Samsung Galaxy S6 has had the smartphone rumor mill working on overtime. The latest news on Samsung’s flagship smartphone comes from Italy where according to “some information” from “reliable sources” Samsung will be shaking things up for the newest iteration of the Galaxy S6. If these Italian sources are correct, then it looks like the Samsung Galaxy S6 will boast a curved display. But that’s not all that Samsung is changing for the S6. In addition to the sloping display, the Galaxy S6 is purported to have a solid aluminum unibody chassis to house the revamped guts of the smartphone.

While getting “some information” from anonymous but totally legit “reliable sources” does sound a bit sketchy, it appears that these latest whispers are not entirely without merit. Samsung has been moving toward metal body designs as we’ve first seen with the Samsung Galaxy Alpha and then in the entire Samsung Galaxy A range. Moving to an aluminum unibody build would certainly be a big shake up for the Samsung Galaxy S6 since the Galaxy flagship phones have primarily been housed by plastic chassis. In addition to the revelations about the Galaxy S6’s display and build, it was also suggested that all of the new Samsung Galaxy S6 phones will come with the flexible curved display. This contradicts previous rumors that the new and improved Galaxy S6 would follow the Galaxy Note 4’s lead by having the ‘normal’ and ‘edge’ variants. But just because there are claims that there won’t be a Galaxy S6 and a Galaxy S6 Edge doesn’t mean that there won’t be variants. The “reliable sources” have suggested that the delineation for the new Galaxy S6 will not come down to the curved display but will in fact be related to the kind of chipset that is utilized in the phone. Yep! It appears that the LTE capable devices will carry the Snapdragon 810 power plant and the brand spanking new 64 bit Exynos 7 Octa for the other variant of the Galaxy S6.

Whew! And these reliable Italian sources weren’t done spilling the beans on the Galaxy S6 after revealing some of the dirty deets about the phone’s alleged specs. Our friendly Italian smartphone Deep Throat sources have also claimed that Samsung will not be announcing the post makeover Galaxy S6 in Las Vegas at CES. They’re instead saying that we should expect Samsung to unveil the fresh Galaxy S6 at the beginning of the second quarter of 2015. With so many details to digest, I wonder how much of it will actually turn out to be true? What do Samsung fans think of these supposed updates to the Galaxy S6 line? Do you think these changes will help the Galaxy S’s sagging sales or do you think that Samsung should focus on their other smartphone lines?
