Go Pro or Go Home: The GoPro Hero 4 Camera

The GoPro team recently pulled out of Pandora’s box their latest contraption, the GoPro Hero 4. As the consumer market for action type cameras is evolving at a fast pace, GoPro and rival company “POV” (point of view) fight over customer preferences. The kick behind action cameras is that they focus on what you are doing, opposed to focusing on the outer environment, and they do so by packing high resolution and quality while also integrating a wide angle view.

The GoPro Hero 4 works at staggering 30 fps for 4k resolution, while on 1080p it runs at 120 fps; all this in a very small package. The downside on this device is that it lacks a screen on which you can see your productions. In order to view your work you have to connect to a smart device via Wi-Fi. Don’t gret though, the Wi-Fi connection is top notch, so looking through your art-work shouldn’t be much of an issue.

This new realease, the GoPro Hero 4, marks the 4th generation of GoPro cameras. The production line for this release is expanded to three products: The GoPro Hero 4 Black, The GoPro Hero 4 Silver and The GoPro Hero 4. The price for the GoPro Hero 4 is roughly 499$. Considering the capturing power it packs in such a small space, it’s well worth the price. Among the new features we find Bluetooth support and the fact that it can tag your best footage while shooting it.

The design on the GoPro Hero 4 looks much like its predecessor, the Hero3+. It still comes with waterproof encasing included in the price, but some changes to its design are still notable. For example, the new settings button is inclusive of the navigation system, fact which renders the usage of the camera far more intuitive, opposed to the previous design. Another very important change regards the battery compartment. It is now located at the base and as such, it is easier to replace it, opposed to being located at the back of the device. The battery type for the new GoPro Hero 4 has also changed, from 3.7 V 1180 mAh to 3.8 V 1160 mAh.

All in all, the improvements to the new model of GoPro are quite relevant and facilitating. No wonder every would-be hero is scoping for this baby with their glasses on. Are you?
