Netanyahu accuses Abbas over Jerusalem attack

After a violent incident in Jerusalem, in which a baby got killed, Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu accused Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian president of incitement which led to deadly consequences in Jerusalem. Netanyahu said that Mahmoud Abbas encouraged violent incidents, which led to the murder of a three month old baby, by a Palestinian driver. The Palestinian man drove his car straight into a group of people. Eight other people were severely injured in the incident. The driver died, due to the injuries caused by police officers who shot him. The incident was labeled as a terrorist attack.

Micky Rosefeld declared: “The driver… is a resident of Silwan and has a terrorist background. He served time in jail for terror activity”. The driver’s name was Adbel-Rahman Shaloudi and he was 21 years old. He was shot dead while trying to run away by foot, from the scene of the attack. Adbel-Rahman Shaloudi was the nephew of a bomb maker from Hamas. The Hamas is responsible for numerous terrorist attacks against Israel. The bomb maker was killed in 1988 in the West Bank. Hamas has declared its involvement in the attack in Jerusalem, however an official statement has not been released.

The three months old baby, named Haya Zissel Braun was thrown 30-65 ft into the air, before landing on her rear, according to Shimshon Helpern, the little girl’s grandfather. The Mayor of Jerusalem, Nir Barkat said the baby and her parents were US citizens. Jen Psaki, US State Department spokeswoman condemned the terrorist attack in Jerusalem. She added: “We urge all sides to maintain calm and avoid escalating tensions in the wake of this incident”.

Prime Minister Netanyahu accused the Palestinian government, Abbas’ Fatah party and Hamas for encouraging such violent incidents, like the most recent one in Jerusalem. He said: “This is the way in which Mahmoud Abbas’ partners in government operate, the same Mahmoud Abbas who just days ago incited to harm Jews in Jerusalem”. Netanyahu was referring to the comments made by Abbas in which he declared that Jewish settlers should be barred by any means possible from entering the Temple Mount. The Temple Mount is a holy compound disputed between Jews and Muslims. The Muslims refer to it as Haram al-Sharif. He went on describing the Jews who visit the location as a herd of cattle.
