I am very grateful that I had the opportunity to visit both this great cities, and while I was fascinated with London, Paris is where I left my heart. To make things easier on my pocket, I researched the best way to visit as many tourist attractions as possible without going broke. That is how I came to make the acquaintance of the Paris Museum Pass and the London Pass.
However, as one who has experienced both the Paris Museum Pass and the London Pass, I have to say I was rather disappointed by the London Pass. Not that it didn’t help with expensive tourist attractions, but because it didn’t offer as much as the Paris Museum Pass.
For example, the Paris Museum Pass cost me 69 € for a period of six days while the London Pass cost me 68 £ (around 85 €) for just two days. While both Passes supposedly allow you to see 60 great tourist attractions, in reality it is only the Paris Museum Pass that allows you to see many beautiful and interesting places such as the Louvre, the Versailles Palace, The Tomb of Napoleon the First, part of the Army Museum, the Conciergerie, the Orangery, Orsay Museum, the Pantheon, Sainte Chapelle, the Saint Denis Cathedral where the kings and queens of France are buried and more.
For me the only places offered by the London Pass I was interested in seeing were the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, the Royal Observatory in Greenwich and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. To my surprise though I discovered that the Royal Albert Hall, which is also on the London Pass, is a worth seeing place. Not because it offers great things to see, but because the guide that showed us around presented the history of the building in such a way that it became interesting. It was a plus that while we were visiting the place an orchestra was on stage preparing for the famous BBC Proms. I was very impressed with the acoustics of the concert hall.
In conclusion, if you ever have the desire and opportunity to visit Paris or London, do not forget to use the City Pass. It will help you avoid long ticket lines and expensive ticket costs.
